Skills/Interests:

I have a strong interest in design and graphic applications that extend out from my work and education. I am trained in Illustrator, Photoshop, Maya and Shake, and am self-taught in programs such as Flash and After Effects. I have a deep interest in 3D Animation, both technically and from the point of view of industry developments. I hold a fascination for the arts, particularly architecture, as well as a deep passion for film. Coming from a press environment, I am used to working under pressure and am good at handling stress and working late to meet deadlines. I am good at working in teams, taking on responsibilities and learning new skills quickly. I have a friendly and professional manner and believe myself to be a committed and trusted member of the workforce.

Experience:

February 2006 – present – I am currently working as a Graphic Artist for the Metro Newspaper in London. My responsibilities in this job are numerous but generally revolve around using the applications Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Quark to give the newspaper its visual flair and style. Daily tasks include producing news graphics, designing titles, advertising banners, drawing maps and fact boxes, as well as creating larger graphics for the means of illustration. Highlights include designing the ‘Guilty Pleasures’ gossip page and the Fantasy Football campaign, as well as numerous cover designs for features supplements. I also produce front page elements, conduct picture research and create content for the website.

October 2005 – Dec 2005 - I worked as a general assistant for Headpress Picture Agency in Sydney www.headpress.com.au This involved editing photos with Photoshop (level adjustment, cropping, colour saturation etc) as well as the cataloguing of different photographic shoots.

July 2005 – October 2005 - I worked on the Lifestyle section of New Idea magazine (Sydney, Australia) as a picture researcher, writer and online contributor. I researched and wrote several articles on film, technology and home living. I also worked on the picture desk, dealing with photo agencies and calling in and doing my own picture searches. I also handled invoicing for all the picture agencies. My VISA permitted I work only 3 months for the company.

June 2003 – October 2003 I worked as a picture researcher on the Picture Desk at Hello! Magazine (London), I was in charge of crediting photographers and agencies in the magazine, returning photos and dealing with photographers and agencies. I also helped out on the Art Desk with magazine layouts, and general helping out with scanning and using Photoshop.
